Sony stereo microphone vs. Exactly the same thing without "Sony" on it

I'm owning a Sony stereo microphone ECM-DS70P as seen on the picture for a year now which I bought for around $70. A bit pricy, but totally worth it. I used it for a while untill I came across a $3,95 microphone on the Chinese webshop Dealextreme that looked exactly the same. I decided to buy it and compare it with the real thing. It took a while before it got here but after it arrived I tested it and I was stunned by the amazing quality of this microphone. I tested the two microphones in exactly the same way and it turned out the only difference was the "Sony" logo that wasn't there on the cheap microphone.

Turns out this is proof that the stuff Sony sells is just cheap crap from China with a white text saying "Sony" on it. I recommend to search cheap gadgets sites such as dealextreme.com as mentioned above before you buy something from the real company.

Art Lebedev Concept: Cardboard USB Drive

A new great gadget, USB sticks made out of cardboard, I suggest you don't treat them as cardboard, they won't be as cheap. Art Lebedev came up with this creation, the Cardboard USB drive concept. This environmental-friendly USB stick can be torn from a strip and then quickly used to transport data safely from one place to another. The concept is probably not that far off and as soon as the technology becomes cheap enough to become disposable the concept I am sure will come into its own. Or perhaps cloud computing and data connections will become fast enough that USB drives will become a thing of the past and join the floppy.

Latest SixthSense demo features paper "laptop"!

It's here, the thinnest laptop ever, as thin as a piece of paper. Made by SixthSense technology. Well, sort of, it's actually just a projection, kinda cool though.

We’ve already seen MIT researcher Pranav Mistry’s SixthSense projector-based augmented-reality system in some cool demos, but he just gave a TED talk and his latest ideas are the wildest yet. Forget simple projections, he’s moved on to taking photos by just making a box with your fingers, identifying books and products on store shelves and projecting reviews and other information on them, projecting flight schedules on boarding passes, and even a new paper “laptop” concept that works by using a microphone on the paper to sense when you’re touching it. It’s pretty amazing stuff.

Check out their video with lots of amazing refreshing technology here

Accessory Review: Sennheiser Street II’s (CX200)

When I first took a glance at the box, the Sennheiser Street II (CX200) earphones really didn’t look like anything special. The box had no appeal, and I thought that the box would just “come paired with the earphones”. This is not even close to the case, because from my findings, these earphones are among the best $20† one will ever spend.

Specifications:
Cable length: 3.9 ft. (1.2 m)
Frequency response (headphones): 20 Hz – 20,000 Hz
Impedance: 16 Ω
Sound pressure level (SPL: 110 dB (1kHz/1Vrms)
Total harmonic distortion (THD): < 0.2 %
Transducer principle: Dynamic
Weight: Approx. 0.18 oz. (5 g)

Although these earphones, at a first glace, appear generic, when one sees the thumb grips on the buds, it changes the image of the look and style of these earphones. These earphones, I feel, were designed with a curvy style in mind. Since there isn’t much in terms of appearance to these as they have more of a simplistic feel, the physical ear buds would be the most interesting aspect of the earphones. If these came in other colors, that would be sweet, but sadly it’s stuck to gray and black. Not too big of a problem though!
Overall score: ★★★½
